There are two cameras located at the intersection at Trask Ave and Magnolia St, one monitoring northbound traffic on Magnolia, and another monitoring westbound traffic on Trask.

The speed limit at this intersection is 40 mph, which means the CA Vehicle Code and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices requires that each yellow light must be at least a minimum of 3.9 seconds in duration for through traffic. For protected left or right hand turns, the yellow must be a minimum of 3.0 seconds

The northbound camera captures approximately 60-80 incidents per month, from which an average of about 30-50 tickets are issued. The westbound camera captures approximately 30-50 incidents per month, from which an average of about 15-30 tickets are issued. The westbound camera monitors only the protected left hand turn lanes, while the northbound monitors both the left hand lane and through traffic as well.

Overall, the city of Garden Grove has 14 red light camera approaches at eight different intersections within the city limits. The city issues roughly 600-800 red light camera tickets per month, and the number of tickets issued per year is approximately 7,700.

UPDATE (2107) This intersection has been operational since the original contract was signed with Redflex in 2001. A four year extension of the contract was signed in July of 2017, meaning the cameras at this intersection are likely to remain in place until at least 2021. The city pays between $2,800 to $2,900 per approach per month for 11 operation approaches, which equates to nearly $400,000 a year.
